Maria the merchant’s medium-width feet – details:
- Not a high instep and not a low instep
- A “flipper” shape, meaning the toes are almost equally long, with no pronounced curve at the toe line 😊
- A slightly rounded toe box suits best; very pointed shapes often don’t have enough room for Maria’s big toe
- Usually wears size 43, with a medium-wide G last or a wide H last
- In barefoot shoes, typically size 42, because there’s enough room for the toes

Usually size 43 with a Gabor G or H last fits Maria’s foot well. This ballerina model was a surprise! Size 42.5 fit Maria’s foot comfortably despite the narrow F last. Size 43 felt too roomy. Ballerinas should fit the foot just right, not too loose or they won’t stay on. The slightly rounded toe felt comfortable, the width was just a tiny bit tight at the little toe of the right foot. But the leather will surely give a bit in width. Lovely, soft, and beautiful shoes!
