Maria the merchant’s medium-width feet – details:
- Not a high instep and not a low instep
- A “flipper” shape, meaning the toes are almost equally long, with no pronounced curve at the toe line 😊
- A slightly rounded toe box suits best; very pointed shapes often don’t have enough room for Maria’s big toe
- Usually wears size 43, with a medium-wide G last or a wide H last
- In barefoot shoes, typically size 42, because there’s enough room for the toes
- Length of the longer foot 26.5 cm
- Width at the ball of the foot 10.8 cm
For Maria’s feet, size 43 from Gabor with a G or H last is usually a good fit. This ballet flat style was a surprise! Size 42.5 fit Maria’s feet comfortably despite the narrow F last. Size 43 felt too roomy, while 42 felt too snug. Ballet flats need to fit just right, as overly roomy ones won’t stay on the feet. The slightly rounded toe felt comfortable; width-wise, it felt just a tiny bit snug around the little toe of the right foot. However, the leather would certainly give a little in width. Lovely, soft, beautiful shoes!
