Barefoot shoes - winter boots, Up Tex Core - dark blue leather

A great new Up Tex Core winter boot style from Froddo! Up Tex Core is an updated, roomier version of the familiar Tex Laces style. This style is a little wider, and the toe shape is flatter, giving the toes more room. There’s also more height over the instep, and the laces let you adjust the fit comfortably. These lovely barefoot shoes are made of dark blue leather and are warm thanks to their wool lining. The Tex membrane also keeps toes dry. There’s a zipper on the inner side of each shoe to make them easier to put on. The flexible Lifolit® outsole bends in every direction without slipping, providing good grip in winter weather.   • Inside the shoe (between the upper and lining materials) is a waterproof and breathable Froddo-TEX membrane. The membrane is essentially a bag that extends all the way up the shoe shaft, with taped seams. The height of the top edge of the bag can be checked by looking at the membrane pockets next to the tongue.
  • Shoes with a waterproof membrane should only be treated with products recommended for Tex membrane shoes. New shoes do not require pre-treatment, but can be protected with a dirt-repellent spray if desired.

💖 PLEASE NOTE THAT SHOES WITH A TEX MEMBRANE ARE NOT THE SAME AS RUBBER BOOTS! 💖 Shoes with a Tex membrane treated with a waterproofing spray will keep water out very well up to a certain point. However, once the shoes are completely soaked, the “effectiveness” of the Tex membrane between the upper and lining materials may no longer be enough. If rain is forecast or you’ll be spending a long time outdoors in wet weather, it’s best to wear fully waterproof rubber boots.

Maria the merchant’s medium-width feet – details:

• Not a high instep and not a low instep
• A “flipper” shape, meaning the toes are almost equally long, with no pronounced curve at the toe line 😊
• Usually wears size 43, with a medium-wide G last or a wide H last
• Length of the longer foot 26.5 cm
• Width at the ball of the foot 10.8 cm

Size 42 in this barefoot shoe style was absolutely perfect for Maria! The last is so wide and the toe shape follows the natural curve of the toes, so size 42 fits Maria beautifully. Size 41 also fit, but Maria likes a little more room at the toes. The width felt very generous. In non-barefoot shoes, Maria usually wears size 42.5-43, depending on the width of the last. In shoes that aren't barefoot shoes, the toe is usually more or less pointed, which takes up space at the front, so Maria has to choose a larger size.
