Barefoot shoes - winter boots, Up Tex Core - cognac brown leather

A stylish new Up Tex Core winter shoe from Froddo! Up Tex Core is an updated, roomier version of the familiar Tex Laces model. This model is slightly wider, and the toe is flatter, giving the toes more room. There’s also more height over the instep, and the laces make it easy to adjust the fit. These lovely cognac-brown leather barefoot shoes are warm thanks to their wool lining, and the TEX membrane also keeps toes dry. There’s a zipper on the inside of the shoes to make them easier to put on. The flexible Lifolit® outsole bends in every direction without slipping, providing good grip in winter conditions.   • Inside the shoe (between the upper and lining) is a waterproof and breathable Froddo-TEX membrane. In practice, the membrane is a bag that extends all the way around the shoe and up to the top of the shaft, with taped seams. The height of the bag’s upper edge can be checked using the membrane pockets beside the tongue.
  • Shoes with a waterproof membrane should only be treated with products recommended for TEX membrane shoes. New shoes don’t need pre-treatment, but can be protected with a dirt-repellent spray if desired.

💖 PLEASE NOTE THAT SHOES WITH A TEX MEMBRANE ARE NOT THE SAME AS RUBBER BOOTS! 💖 Shoes with a TEX membrane treated with waterproofing spray are highly water-resistant up to a point. But once the shoes are soaked through, even the “performance” of the TEX membrane between the upper and lining may no longer be enough. If rain is forecast or you’ll be spending a long time outdoors in wet weather, it’s best to wear guaranteed waterproof rubber boots.

Maria the merchant’s medium-width feet – details:

• Not a high instep and not a low instep
• A “flipper” shape, meaning the toes are almost equally long, with no pronounced curve at the toe line 😊
• Usually wears size 43, with a medium-wide G last or a wide H last
• Length of the longer foot 26.5 cm
• Width at the ball of the foot 10.8 cm

Size 42 in this barefoot shoe model fit Maria’s feet perfectly! The last is so wide and the toe box follows the natural curve of the toes, so size 42 is more than enough for Maria. Size 41 also fit, but Maria likes a little more room for her toes. The width felt very generous. In non-barefoot shoes, Maria’s size is usually 42.5-43, depending on the width of the last. In shoes that aren’t barefoot shoes, the toe is usually more or less pointed, so it takes up space at the front and Maria has to choose a larger size.
