Barefoot shoes - winter boots, Up Tex Core - burgundy leather

A lovely new winter shoe model from Froddo, the Up Tex Core! The Up Tex Core is an updated, roomier version of the familiar Tex Laces model. This model is slightly wider, with a flatter toe line, giving the toes more room. There is also more room over the instep, and the laces let you adjust the fit comfortably. These beautiful burgundy leather barefoot shoes are warm thanks to their wool lining, and the TEX membrane also keeps toes dry. There is a zipper on the inside of the shoes to make them easier to put on. The flexible Lifolit® outsole bends in every direction without slipping, and provides good grip in winter weather.   • Inside the shoe (between the upper and lining) is a waterproof and breathable Froddo-TEX membrane. In practice, the membrane is a bag that extends all the way up the shoe shaft, and its seams are taped. You can check the height of the bag’s upper edge in the membrane pockets alongside the tongue.
  • Shoes with a waterproof membrane should only be treated with products recommended for TEX membrane shoes. New shoes do not need pre-treatment, but can be protected with a dirt-repellent spray if desired.

💖 PLEASE NOTE THAT SHOES WITH A TEX MEMBRANE ARE NOT THE SAME AS RUBBER BOOTS! 💖 Shoes with a TEX membrane treated with a waterproofing spray repel water well up to a certain point. But if the shoes get completely soaked, even the “effectiveness” of the TEX membrane between the upper and lining may no longer be enough. If rain is forecast or you’ll be spending a long time outdoors in wet weather, it’s best to wear waterproof rubber boots.

Maria the merchant’s medium-width feet – details:

• Not a high instep and not a low instep
• A “flipper” shape, meaning the toes are almost equally long, with no pronounced curve at the toe line 😊
• Usually wears size 43, with a medium-wide G last or a wide H last
• Length of the longer foot 26.5 cm
• Width at the ball of the foot 10.8 cm

Size 42 in this barefoot shoe model was absolutely perfect for Maria! The last is so wide, and the toe box follows the natural curve of the toes, so size 42 is more than enough for Maria. Size 41 also fit, but Maria likes a little more room at the toes. The width felt very generous. Maria usually wears size 42.5-43 in non-barefoot shoes, depending on the width of the last. In non-barefoot shoes, the toe box is usually more or less pointed, which takes up space at the front, so Maria has to choose a larger size.
