There is a hint of thickness at the bottom, not quite at the thinnest end. The leather is comfortably high on the heel, which helps the open ballerina model stay on. A fun detail, especially for car drivers, that in this model, the rubber of the sole on the back of the heel comes up just a little bit, so that the leather does not wear when the foot "lies" next to the car pedals. :) Lovely shoes for many outfits and situations!
